Some car dealers around me are way too overzealous about tacking unnecessary shit onto cars. Criswell Auto however, decided that SUV tailgates present an excellent branding opportunity. Fuck this shit.

i’ve seen a few dealers that put their name and logo in vinyl on the rear glass, the width of the car too. and people that drive around with that crap!

Needs at least one more sticker. How can they forlorn the back window like that?

I think some people literally don’t care. It’s a bit obnoxious for those of us who like cars, but to other people it’s literally no more than a mode of transportation.

Those may be loaners. The dealership I work at does that to our loaners. Our
actual dealer tag is just a little sticker that comes off easily with a pressure washer.

I’m glad this crap is rare here. That would be a deal breaker, remove it (don’t install it) or I don ’t take the car.

My wife’s Civic came home with a dealer license plate frame. The engine didn’t even have time to cool off before I had removed it. No way am I going to advertise for them.

When I bought my Volvo I had the dealership remove the plate frames and dealership decal they put on it. I don’t advertise for free. I’d happily take a check every month to leave them on, but that wasn’t an option.

I did the same. But later found out that the dealership sponsors free valet parking at a mall where gradual expansion has made parking a nightmare. A condition of that free valet parking is that you have the dealer’s plate frame on the car. I might have received some polite words from my significant other as we walked from egypt where we had to park.

Nay, non-dealer and non-fleet license plates with current registration.

Now that you know that, you can keep it in the trunk for when you go to the mall. Glue some magnets on the back and just slap it on.

There’s one dealership here that applies the following to every car on its lot:
Pinstripes
Door edge guards
Door edge guard material on the motherfucking wheelwell edges
Dealership badge
Dealership tag frame
Every time I see one of their cars I’m like WHY DID YOU NEED TO “PROTECT” THE WHEELWELLS LIKE THAT? THAT LOOKS LIKE SHIT!

Service loaners don’t necessarily have dealer plates. For example:

Insane. Local Honyota dealers used to be notorious for the door edge guard and wheelarch trim, too, although I think that has faded away. Licens e plate frames are used by every dealer, but those don’t offend me, and can be removed in a minute. The other stuff though, ugh.
If I was taking delivery and they stuck a badge on it, I would refuse to take the car until it was removed without a trace . Fortunately, badges are virtually never used here - I recall a Ford/Hyundai dealer once used them, but that’s it.

This one is a Honda & Kia dealer. But so many dealers here do the door edge guards. They’re horrible.

At least its not just off center.

Good way to inflate that profit margin, charge a couple hundred bucks for $5 worth of parts and labor.
Another high margin item that irks me is the blinking CHMSL, which seems to be a thing for the typical jittery Civrolla and CUV driver here.

That doesn’t bother me because it’s a cool TURBO sticker, and where else would it go with the wiper being there?
Still not as good as the Canadian Civic Type-R’s VTEC TURBO sticker though.

I bought a car from a dealership that did that kind of stuff. Pinstripes (sometimes with dealer name in the stripe) , dealer sticker on the back, license plate frame, license plate on front with something like “ tires for life” on it (in a state with no front plates), VIN glass etching and window tint on most cars.
I saw the car I wanted while it was being unloaded from the truck. Called the dealer and then went by after work. I told them I’d buy the car if they didn’t do all the stuff to it. They ended up with a sticker and plate frame on the back. I took them both of at the dealership and handed them to the salesman when I left.

OMFG, I hate those blinking CHMSL ! I can't imagine how installing those is even legal. I view the brake lights as a government mandated and controlled safety item. How anyone should be able to modify it is beyond me.

I remember this thread solely because of THB going off on you lol. It seems he changed his name to WWaveform? Confusion 100

Still think his rage was funnily placed on me instead of haphazardly placed stickers.
